Circulāris
Circulāris was founded in February 2022 as my Final Major Project at university. The ethical publication is dedicated to driving the preloved clothing movement forward through engaging educational content. ♻️
Inside Circulāris, you will find inspiring articles and features all about preloved clothing, including how-to's, tips, tricks, mending, reuse and educational information, styling inspiration, exclusive interviews & much more...
The magazine was firstly inspired by my passion for the environment & slow fashion, which I want to represent within all of my work, and my dissertation research findings. Consumers are becoming hyperconscious of the damaging effects the fashion industry has on the environment and call for change. More than ever consumers are turning to preloved, as it's one of the best solutions to keep clothing in use and out of landfill.
Through my research-driven approach, I uncovered a gap in the market for a print & digital magazine that is solely dedicated to preloved fashion and reuse in an accessible, inspirational and educational format. I believe it's crucial we all adopt more conscious and sustainable ways of shopping, in order to reduce the social and environmental impacts of fashion and overconsumption. Thus, Circulāris is a timely magazine that will encourage more consumers to become engaged within the preloved clothing universe. The future of fashion is preloved!
For the launch issue, I oversaw the project as the Art Director and Editor-In-Chief. I commissioned, coordinated and oversaw 17 contributors, successfully managed the project, designed Circulāris' identity, brand guidelines, assets and all online/offline outputs, interviewed pre-loved fashion blogger Julia (@improbablywearingyourclothes), Big Sister Swap Stylist Emma Meadows (@thrift_and_thrive_emma) and Thrift+ Head of Growth Miranda Essex for interview features, planned, designed and executed all 70+ pages using various systems such as Adobe Creative Cloud, proofread articles, correcting errors, ensuring correct tone of voice and editing articles to ensure they were all of a high standard, in addition to writing 3 high-quality and compelling articles. I created a 360° launch strategy to cultivate and engage with our community, ensuring cohesive communications across across all touchpoints. I managed my time effectively and found creative solutions to prioritise tasks and work to multiple project deadlines. The magazine was well received, gaining a high amount of user generated content on Instagram and Circulāris was additionally selected to be showcased across Birmingham's digital city centre billboards as a part of Birmingham City University's Inspired Graduate Festival 2022!
